(Tiny Tips) – Wisdolia – Every test taker knows that flashcards are an effective memory tool. If it makes sense to create physical flashcards, why not online? Next time you find yourself stuck trying to get the most important information out of a long YouTube video, a large PDF file, or a series of articles, you can use this Chrome extension to quickly convert them into flashcards for easy viewing. Learning becomes easier.
Wisdolia is a browser extension that automatically generates digital flashcards in Google Chrome or other Chromium web browsers such as Microsoft Edge or Brave. The cards break the content into bite-sized chunks in a clear question-and-answer format, making the information presented easier to understand and remember.
How to create digital flashcards from any online content using Wisdolia
After downloading and installing Wisdolia, you’ll need to create an account to use the extension (you can use any email address or log in with Google). From there, you can open any website, PDF, or YouTube video in Chrome, click the Wisdolia icon, and then click Generate Flash Cards. The extension takes a few seconds to process the content and then generates your flashcard in a pop-up menu.
Flashcards represent a series of questions based on the video or article you just read, and you can click on them to see the answers. If you think the automatically generated questions don’t make sense, you can edit the questions and answers to customize your flashcards. You can also click a button to save your favorite flashcards and sort them into “stacks,” making it easier to revisit important topics.
The extension also automatically adds a button at the end of the article you’re reading, allowing you to quickly convert it into a flashcard so you don’t have to keep clicking the extension logo in the Chrome toolbar. It also supports multiple languages, so you’re not limited to creating flashcards for English-only content.
When you use this extension with a PDF, you can specify which pages you want to create flashcards for, allowing you to divide your study into chapters and focus on one topic at a time.
Wisdolia also integrates with Anki, a platform dedicated to flashcard learning. You can save all of Wisdolia’s flashcards to Anki using the steps described here. Anki offers apps for all major platforms, including smartphones, and you can use this integration to sync your learning content across devices.
Some notes worth mentioning
Although Wisdolia is a useful tool, there are some things to consider before installing it. Like some other Chrome extensions, this one requires access to all websites you have open in the browser, whether or not you actually use them to generate flashcards. Always remember to delete browser extensions that you don’t use regularly, and disable them when you’re not using them regularly – your privacy could be at risk if an extension is sold to a malicious person or company.
The expansion is also fairly new, which means it’s unclear how it will be monetized. The service is very useful and is currently free, but things may change at any time.
